Fuji Finepix E550 Zoom Error

At first I thought it was just low batteries, but I'll put brand new ones in and it'll still happen. I've been lucky so far, in being able to get it to recover, but it sure is a pain! I noticed, almost right out of the box, that the first shot I would take after turning the camera on frequently had banding, striping, horizontal or contour lines. There was no explanation on the paperwork as to what the problem was or what they did to repair it. have a peek here

Simple lesson: never buy a product from Fujifilm. Since then we have not been able to take a single photo. Taken out the x-D-Picture Card (16MB), put it back in. Has this happened to anyone else?

The Fujifilm Finepix E550 is also larger than many digicams, which Fujifilm claims makes it more of a photographer's camera.

I tried to play back a movie (AVI file format), but a Codec error was displayed and I couldn't play the movie, what does this mean? IT WORKED! The company has been unresponsive to really taking care of the problem - e.g., replacing it with something that works. The first week I had it I got the "zoom error" message, though it continued to work without problems. I also got my camera at Xmas 2004 (I assume you meant 2004).
